The Edwards PVEK series valves are compact, light-weight electromagnetic vacuum valves suitable for use in vacuum pipeline systems down to 1 x 10-9 mbar. A double wound coil combined with an electronic switching circuit ensures low energy consumption, low operating temperatures and extended operating life.
Bellows sealed, the PVEK solenoid operated valves are available with either aluminum (A) or stainless steel (S) bodies, and in right-angle (PVEK) and in-line (IPVEK) versions, with an overall MTTF of up to 500,000 cycles.
Technology
The valve mechanism consists of a solenoid operated moving pole with integral valve pad and bellows assembly. The moving pole is enclosed in an iron casing and the bellows assembly is housed in the lower vacuum body, thus isolating the valve mechanism from the system. Vacuum bodies are available in wrought aluminium alloy (stainless steel valves are available).
The body terminates in two KF flanged ports and valve pad sealing is by a fluoroelastomer 'O' ring seal. A plastic control box houses the electronic switching and rectification circuit which is protected by a surge proof fuse; a magnetic reed change-over switch provides the switching facility and can be wired for remote indication of valve open/closed position. The switch terminals and mains electrical terminals are also located in the control box.
Improved circuit board design has achieved enhanced life expectancy up to 5 times that of the previous design. Overall MTTF for the valves is up to 500,000 cycles. The valves are provided with separate plug and socket connections rated at IP65 and comply with IBM electrical standards.
